You're The Man

Maria Clavo So 1958 (New Orleans)

              You say you're the man
But who are you supposed to be?
A clown, nurse, or even an attorney
                      Dressed to kill
Always looking for a good thrill
             Traveling from here & there
                  To God knows where
                  Phone conversations
             Leading to sexual relations
                      Giving money
                      To your honey
                Without a single worry
              You're not just the judge
                          But the jury
Visiting your father when you can
               Cause You're the man
             Carrying yourself so cool
No one will ever think you're a fool
You wear three piece suits & cowboy boots
              Holding your attache case
With a great big smile on your face
                         Beeper ringing
As cients call on your cell phone singing
As eloquent as you can be
                     You're a real turkey
                 With your good looking
                       Southern cooking
                         Female lurcher
                      Going to church sir
                   Captivating as you are
Speaking as well as a Hollywood star
Always looking for a good cause
                    Cause you're the man
                 Driving many cars & vans
                   Spoiling kids you know
                    While you're on the go
                Giving cards with prayers
Always letting people know you care
                          Day in day out
Good words come from your mouth
Helping people as often as you can
                       Cause you're the man
                            You're the man
