A Love's Lament

In yonder void, where spaces gape asunder,
In your love's absence, my heart doth thunder...
Devoid of solace, I roam in search of rest,
Your absence leaves a wound, a bitter, cruel bequest…

I sought to carry on as if we'd never met,
Yet every step I take, your memories silhouette…
Awake, yet half asleep in this shadowed sphere,
Your image lingers, in my heart, a cherished sear.

I pray for my heart's wholeness, unabated,
In this chaotic realm, your love, a treasure unabated…
Voices urge me onward, to persevere and press,
But adrift I am without you, like a ship in the wilderness.

In a vast ocean, I now swim, alone and lost,
Yearning for love's sweet melody, a tempest-tossed...
The irony of love, it cuts both deep and wide,
In your absence, my love for you, I cannot hide.

No diamonds, nor gold, no silver's gleaming hue,
Would I bestow upon the world, 'tis true...
But love alone, in boundless measure, I shall share,
For 'tis the only treasure that my heart does bear.

About this poem

"A Love's Lament" is a haunting ballad that weaves a tapestry of longing, heartache, and the enduring power of love. Through its verses and melancholic chorus, the poem takes you on a journey of emotional depth, exploring the empty spaces left by a departed love... My heart is burdened by the absence of a beloved, and struggle to find rest in a world devoid of that cherished presence. Despite efforts to move forward, the memories and feelings for the lost love persist, like an unquenchable flame. The ballad explores the irony of love, how it can both wound and heal, and how its absence leaves a profound void. In the end, the poem beautifully conveys the sentiment that love, in all its simplicity and depth, is the most valuable gift one can offer to the world, transcending material wealth and glittering treasures. "A Love's Lament" aims to capture the essence of Shakespearean themes of love, loss, and the enduring nature of human emotion... Hope you like it.
