ANNO THE 90'S

We can only really understand each other: the old, never-agreeing accomplices, the outcast and the silent friend abandoned at the dawn of childhood. We have but to look at each other with a wink, and our milk teeth, long since fallen out, have shuddered: "How could the calculating, gallant wheel of the world turn so?" we ask, but our question is answered with a shudder.

We've been each other's accomplices for so long, like married couples or lovers in love: we know about each other's foolishness, even in a state of joy and sorrow: we've picked up rubbish and bags of crisps when we needed to, and while some unfriendly teenage devil stamped his foot on our scrambled-meat sandwiches with a dirty, stubby foot: "Now! You good birds! Eat off the floor if you don't want to starve to death!" they ordered us. And there were times when we ate the scattered tithes in our tearful, cowardly shame, so that we would have enough for the salmonella canteen.

We were thrown out by girls' flirtatious glances when we complimented them by the thousand, We spent many a silly poem, though we secretly knew: for what?! - Now with long years of chains on our shoulders we look back: shout a big, cheeky pack-confession up to the sky! And say, WE ARE PEOPLE, and NOT VADES!

We were pounding desperately, like beaten dogs, on the oak door of the Director's locked office, while the bailiffs of the bigger branch were hunting us down, but in such a way that even our squeezed little trousers were peeing and sneering We banged desperately, like beaten dogs, on the oak doors of the Director's locked office, while the bailiffs of the larger branch hunted us down, but so that even our squeezed little trousers were pissed and we were mocked like two pathetic infected or pestis! We are both out of the circle of trust, out of the circle of human relations, and while we search our adult faces for our childhood selves, we are struck in the face like shark's teeth by a hearty sorrow; Life could never be lived but simply and lightly! There was always a hard and murderous ruthless endurance On the edge of Existence!
