Addiction's Unforgiving Hand
In the shadowed corners of a childhood past,
A mother's struggle with demons that would last,
The echoes of addiction's heavy toll,
Affecting innocent hearts, taking its toll.
The children who stood on uncertain ground,
Witnessing a battle that would resound,
They saw a hero, yet also a foe,
As addiction's tendrils continued to grow.
Innocence shattered, trust eroded away,
As the mother they cherished began to sway,
Through the highs and lows, the pain and strife,
They learned to navigate this uncertain life.
The wounds run deep, an everlasting scar,
Affecting how they see themselves from afar,
The fear, the anger, the longing to heal,
The emotions that time alone cannot seal.
Yet within this darkness, a strength unfolds,
For those children carry stories untold,
They learn resilience, compassion, and might,
As they forge their own paths into the light.
They strive to break chains that bind them tight,
Redefining their futures, rewriting their plight,
Though scars remain, they'll rise above,
Drawing on the strength of a mother's love.
For even amidst addiction's bitter hold,
A mother's love can still be extolled,
Her struggles have shaped, but they don't define,
The children she loves, her legacy's sign.
In their journeys forward, they'll find their way,
With the strength to heal, the courage to sway,
The cycle of pain, to break it apart,
For they carry a fire within their heart.
So, let's remember the children who stand,
Touched by addiction's unforgiving hand,
May they find the healing, the love, the grace,
And create a future, a better place.
