A Friend's Lament

Eyes of darkened chocolate
hair, a ruby red
she's beauty incarnate
my wonderful friend

The greatest thing about her:
her radiant heart and soul
I wish I could get over you
these feelings take their toll

Her laugh, the sound of angels
her smile, a crescent moon
her entire being is so divine
I wish that I could make her mine

But she is with another
and I wish them all the best
for I truly love her
more than all the rest

I want her to be happy
and don't think that she'd be
if I ever had the chance
for her to be with me

So I'll stay by the side
and keep being her friend
for though I am heartbroken
I'm with her till the end

About this poem

This poem is about my dearest friend. I'm in love with her, but she doesn't feel the same way back. Being her friend makes me happy.
