My father's burned note

But maybe just a chance
For one moment you take a glance
And reflect on me and mine alone
And forfeit gold for solid stone
Learn that life aint fair, it sure aint so
To kill their tears I don't let them go
I fight the wars in distant homes
There is no glory only gore
My chest outdone with memoirs of fear
Their ghost haunt and yet no more tears
What have I done for you my son
never saved
nothing worth more

About this poem

I have no good memory of my dad. But I was told he wanted to be better and wrote poems as a way to connect to me. I think he deserves damnation for what he has done, but I still would like to share this forgotten reflection on his life.
