A Dweller's Life

Adam Long 1986 (Virginia)

Between this life and the next
Lies a vision, visible through text

A vision held by two blind mice
For a bigger future and a better life

Dreaming, to someday leave the dirt
To live a better life, atop the earth

They fight through life to find their food
Hoping each night their next day is good

Their lives are short, people around them are mean
But they push through, and continue to dream

About this poem

I wrote this poem randomly while sitting in bed, the rats in this poem metaphorically represent my fiance and myself, we together have a dream to own our own house someday and build a life.

Adam Long

I tend to write alot of love poems, actually I have a book that I keep on my night stand that I fill with love poems to my fiance , I hope to fill the book so we can look back on it when we grow old. But I believe the best poems come from the heart, and from personal experiences. more…
