All the Things We Said We'd Do

Molly Farnes 2008 (Washington)

Oh to tell you, there is no way
To tell you the things that I must say
We must leave, I know it’s true,
But to be away from you,
Would break my heart
Without restart
My hopes are few, my tears are not
For my thoughts have turned my stomach a knot
Thinking of the things we said we’d do
All the things were not a few
Through all the things in life,
Through all the peace and strife,
None I’ll miss so much as you.
So many things we said we’d do
And now we won’t have a chance
To sing and play and dance
But I will never forget you
And all the things we said we’d do.

About this poem

I wrote this poem when my family thought we would have to move. I was heartbroken at the very thought of leaving my whole life behind and this poem just wove itself together in my mind.
