Forgetting You're Not Here

I wake some mornings forgetting
You're not here.
We go for a morning walk.
The sun is up, the grass covered in dew.
The air, cool and fresh.
And although you're not here,
We walk together.
We share thoughts and memories
Of life and our once desired passions.
Our arms link as we walk together.
It's a beautiful day
When I remember you're still here.

About this poem

This is about my twin sister who past away last year. She had cancer and lived almost exactly 4 years after her diagnosis. She passed 6 days after our 56th birhday.
