Bee! I'm expecting you!

Emily Dickinson 1830 (Amherst) – 1886 (Amherst)

Bee! I'm expecting you!
Was saying Yesterday
To Somebody you know
That you were due—

The Frogs got Home last Week—
Are settled, and at work—
Birds, mostly back—
The Clover warm and thick—

You'll get my Letter by
The seventeenth; Reply
Or better, be with me—
Yours, Fly.

This poem always made me laugh! It's a telegram sent from Fly to Bee. The humorous irony is the fact that Fly had just sent a letter, but was so excited about Spring, he had to try aother, more technological method. Then too Fly reports that the Frogs are back and "at work" (eating Flies)!
