You Don't Love Me Enough

Gouldie Anne Oliveros 1980 (Mahayahay, Iligan City)

Looking at my reflection,
Seeing past what many people is seeing.
Beyond this physique is a broken soul.
Hiding inside - enclosed and bound.

I can see my imperfections clearly,
Insecurities, doubts, fears and many more.
Concealing everything inside,
Too broken to let go and be true.

Words - a powerful weapon of all,
Uttered and vindicated by gestures,
Carelessly sometimes spoken and rendered,
With repercussion kept and remembered.

Love - I gladly gave in.
In the frontlines - I placed my heart.
Trusting you without reservations I gladly give,
Hoping you see the worth I never saw in me.

But unrequited love is all that this is,
You don't love me enough to give me a piece of yourself,
With reservations and inhibitions - you kept your wall.
Who I am then when you told me you love me?
What right do I have then when you don't love me enough?
